He Directs our Steps

If you missed part one go back and read “He Prepares a way”.

So here I am, running Braided Branch almost six months in. I am seeing God work left and right and honestly I am so in awe of Him. So humbled that He assigned me to impact others lives on social media, and completely surrendered to the next day because frankly, I have no idea what it will bring.

Then as I am preparing content for Braided Branch, a sweet friend of mine asked me to join her in a 21 days of prayer and fasting. I had never participated in a fast before, but I had always wanted to do one. My soul (and the Holy Spirit) were urging me to dive in and surrender it all to Him over the next 21 days.

Eventually I want to share my experience with the prayer and fast because I have never experienced anything like it, but that is a story for another day.

So, as I am praying and bringing it all to the cross I am checking off the list, “Lord, your will be done with these areas of my life: my family, my marriage, Braided Branch, the ranch, and oh yea Lord… I still keep pursuing the little lady that runs the local paper about taking over. If I should stop pursuing her please guide me in that.”

Day 15 of the 21 days of prayer, I find out the sweet old lady that assured me each time I talked to her that she wasn’t ready to give up her role as the publisher, passed away unexpectedly from a heart attack.

———

Mmk Lord, like what you doing? I legit asked this for a week. I still had 6 days left of prayer and you bet each day I was still checking off that list, but instead of me asking the Lord if I should still pursue her, I am saying “Lord, a door is now open, and I may not be the only one interested in the publication, but if it is your will, allow the way.”

Day 21 after finishing a morning full of prayer and worship with my friend, I call the family. Little did I know, that sweet little lady had been mentioning my name for over a year. With tears in my eyes I tell you, the Lord is writing our stories with so much detail and care, what we dream about for years, even centuries, what He prepares us with, is all for a purpose.

And so I share this with you because as I have been preparing to publish my first publication to our community, I have seen God in each step and beyond. There is even more detail to the story I wish I could write here, but it would be a book. Looking back though, I see all the work He has been doing establishing my steps. Because now I know how to design, work on a website, courageously ask for advertisers, create community and connection, work with the mail carrier, and more.

As I wrap it up here I also wanted to also share something I heard from God, “If I had given you and Peter the ranch before establishing your ministries, you probably wouldn’t have done so. But because I am having you wait on the ranch, you leaned into me, you surrendered it all, and I have work for you to do in other places too.”

The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his step.” Proverbs 16:9
